Advergaming is a practice of using video games for advertising purposes. Term was first used by Anthony Giallourakis and later adopted by Wired Magazine.

Both, video gaming and advertising industries, are growing constantly and have market share measured in billions of US dollars. Advertisers have soon discovered potential of video games, and are now using it as successfull promotion for their products, brands, organizations and viewpoints.

Video game designed specificaly for advertising purpose is often called advergame. Common thing for this kind of games is that they are free for user and that they are designed around brand. Advergames exist on all types of media, but the most common variant is usage on websites. Mostly this is related to wide audience and low distribution costs, as they pay only for used bandwith.
