The game was launched in 2nd quarter of 2009 to promote their Puma L.I.F.T. (Lite Injected Foam Techology) series of shoes, weighting 173 grams.Website with game also offers lots of information on their products, as usual for advergames. In the time of launch there was also a challenge, with prizes, first prize was meeting runner Usain Bolt, other were Puma Lift shoes.
Puma L.I.F.T. game has simple idea. Player has to score higest result possible with one of two in-game characters, which are Usain Bolt and Etoo Samuel. They do so with avoiding some obstacles – buildings and objects, and picking up other bonus objects. Gameplay is simple 2-dimensional. Characters “fly” in the air with clicking mousebutton or spacebar, which requries good timming to be able to hover over skyscrappers. Practice game can be played without registration, but to compete in the challenge player must register.
Graphics aren’t particulary amazing, just some real photos in the background and simple animated runner. Techically there isn’t any special or inovative approach. I would assume most play this game only for a chance of winning a prize. There is also one thing that really bothers me, Usain Bolt is supposed to be fastest human in the world. Heck in this game he runs slower than average pensioner.
In my opinion this game offers no real gaming pleasure and experience. I would recommend playing it only if you really want to win the prizes, but be ready for broken mouse or keyboard, as it can be really frustrating to hit some stupid obstacle. Puma Lift can be found on: http://www.puma-lift.com/
