If you are internet technology enthusiast like me, you have probably heard the news about testing new HTML5 standards in browsers. The first two will be Google Chrome and Safari.

Google released a video of their engineers playing Quake II using Safari. They did it with Jake2, a Java 3D engine, Google Web Toolkit, WebGL, WebSockets, the Canvas API, HTML5 and a local storage API to compile it into Javascript.

HTML5 shows great potential and may change the future od web design and software appplications. More, it may influence video gaming industry and especially advergames, which are mostly present on the world wide web. Advergames designed for HTML5, could have more functionalities, better graphics and more complex gameplay. It could also revive some old advergames, which were made for physical media, like CD-ROMs, and could not be played in browsers.

Personally I’m eager to see more results :)
